about-face: Twisted Mistress

Who is the Twisted Mistress? Well none other than the owner and directrix of Twisted Radio. She is also one of New Zealand's sexiest radio voices, so sexy that even her trade mark pink hair can be seen via the radio waves!

After stalking her on Facebook and flicking through 124 tags about Boobies on her blog. I managed to convince her that answering some questions for Girl Hack was the ultimate thing to do, here is the interview:

1)) So I hear you like it Twisted? Can you elaborate on that?

"Yes, I very much like it Twisted. To me Twisted is looking at all the areas of life in an alternative, wibbly wobbly fashion and living life on the B side. The music we play on Twisted reflects that ethos".

2)) How did the idea of Twisted Radio come to you?

"The idea of Twisted was actually cooked up by a group of extremely smart guys in Auckland back in 2003-2004. They invited me to do a show on the station.

I started with a Wednesday Night show with a fantastic co-host called Dodgy Sam and then moved on to doing a solo breakfast show called The Resurrection Breakfast.

I purchased the station a 2 or 3 years back and moved it to the sunny Coromandel which is where we are based now".

3)) What have the crew at Twisted Radio been up to lately?

"The Twisted Crew have been pretty busy with weekly gigs. Martin Marshall plays every Friday night at Grand Central and Ponsonby and the second Saturday of every month at Suite Bar. He has also just started a gig with DJ Nigel Love at Third and Social playing the last Saturday of every month.

I have been doing a lot of local VJ sets, filming show reels for local musicians and filming video clips for the same musicians. I've also been spending time adding more local musical content to the radio play lists, moving the studio to a better space in our pad and playing about with new software.

We have a few DJs dotted about on the Thames Coast who have been playing at gigs and feeding me content of their own.

We are also in the throes of arranging live shows including a regular breakfast show with me as your host. These are still a little while off but we will announce commencement dates on the Facebook page and our Blog."

4)) What do you like most about blogging?

"I have been running The Mistress Blog since September 2004 and really love that is it's so easy to use. Adding really cool features and posting articles is really easy so you don't need to be an expert to create a fabulous page. I also really love that Blogger (who I use) is constantly updating and adding cool features so there are always new things to play about with."

5)) If you could share 3 songs with the whole world, what would they be?

1) Born This Way, Lady Gaga. I absolutely love the message in this tune. Love yourself because you are perfect the way you are.

2) Pie Jesu, Andrew Lloyd Webber version sung by Sarah Brightman. This song gives me the most insane and enjoyable goose bumps every time I listen to it. I find it really uplifting and quite magical.

3) So Gently We Go, I Mother Earth. Again this is a beautiful, uplifting tune. The lyrics describe (my interpretation) a mind in a gorgeous, happy altered state.
